How to connect Claude to your eBay store

Two steps, about a minute. Add Haulbound to Claude as a connector, then sign in through eBay's own login screen and approve access. You do not need an eBay developer account, an API key, Node.js or a config file — those are only required by the local MCP servers that run on your own computer.

Step 1 — add the connector

Open the connector link and confirm in Claude. Nothing downloads to your computer; Haulbound runs as a hosted remote MCP server.

Adding a custom connector requires a paid Claude plan. Some workplace accounts block them by policy.

Step 2 — sign in with eBay

Claude sends you to a consent screen listing what the connector will be able to do, then to eBay's own sign-in page. You type your eBay password on eBay's site, not ours — Haulbound never sees it. eBay hands back a token scoped to the permissions you approved.

Step 3 — ask it something

Once connected, ask in plain English:

Why can't I just use the free eBay MCP server?

You can, if you're comfortable becoming an eBay developer. The free servers run locally and require you to register with the eBay Developers Program, wait for review, generate a Client ID and Secret, install Node.js, and edit Claude's JSON config file — seven steps, and eBay's developer obligations then apply to you personally.

They are good software and they cost nothing. If you write code, use them. Here's the full comparison.

Will this get my eBay account restricted?

eBay's February 2026 policy update banned buyer-side AI agents — bots that place orders without human review. It explicitly permits seller-side tools built on eBay's official APIs. Haulbound uses the official Sell APIs with an approved production keyset, only ever touches your own seller account, and cannot make a change without your confirmation in the chat.

How do I disconnect?

Revoke access from your eBay account's third-party authorisations page at any time, or remove the connector in Claude. The stored connection is deleted immediately.
